With the significant change in the cattle market, taking advantage of every possible tool or bit of information that will improve production is needed now more than ever. This year's SW Beef Symposium is focused on helping producers become more efficient and productive in their respective operations.

On the first day topics include:

  • Defining Sustainability
  • Performance Indicators for Cow-Calf Producers
  • Explanation of the Market Swings and What to Expect

On day two, the focus will be on:

  • How to Improve Production Through Technology
  • Genomics
  • Feed Efficiency
  • Fetal Programming

Individual Registration of $75 includes symposium proceedings, steak supper and lunch, with early registration available through January 2, 2017. On January 3 and at the door, registration will be $95 per registrant.

In addition, the SW Beef Symposium Trade Show is always a highlight, and typically attracts over 20 vendors. Booth space is available for $250 and includes registration for one representative.

A limited number of rooms have been blocked at the La Quinta Inn & Suites under Southwest Beef Symposium for conference participants.

Hosted jointly by the New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, this educational forum is tailored for beef producers and was established to provide timely information annually, about current industry issues and practical management. The event is held in January of each year and alternates between locations in New Mexico and Texas.
